Extracting is the opposite of merging. By extracting pages from a document, you can turn a single document into multiple documents.

Extracting is useful when you inadvertently (or intentionally for that matter) scan multiple documents as one document, or when you decide that a very large document should be broken up into smaller pieces, and individually named.

    1. Open the document and go to the thumbnail view.

    1. Select the page(s) you wish to extract by left-clicking on the page image.

      • To select multiple consecutive pages, click on the first page, hold down  Shift and click on the last page.
      • To select non-consecutive pages (eg. pages 1, 3, and 5) highlight the first page, then hold down Ctrl and click on each of the other pages.

    1. Select Extract Pages from the context menu (note that selecting Delete will permanently delete the selected pages from the document - they will be sent to the Trash folder).

    1. You will see the following dialog:

      • Name the new document as desired in the New Document Title text area.
      • Indicate the Document Date if desired.
      • Select Move Pages to remove the pages from the current document and create a new document.
      • Select Copy pages to leave the current document  intact, while creating a new document consisting of copies of the highlighted pages (note annotations will not be copied).

    1. You will be prompted to select the folder where you want the new document to be created.

Note: If you do not select a folder, by default the new extracted document will be placed in the same location as the source (original) document.

    1. The new document will be saved to the folder you specify.
